My favorite subject

My favorite subject is Linguistic, the teacher is Cristian Prado. I like this subject because I like authors very much as for example Umberto Eco and Michael Foucault. But I specially like the semiotic, because I have read some books about the painter analysis and it is very interesting the lecture behind the colours, some objects, the lighting, and other things. The linguistic is not only for words lectures, also it is for the art and advertising for example. Any image is innocent. Other topic of linguistic is about de simbolism, I like the analysis of Middle Age above all , there the religion is very present, but not only in the painters but also in the architecture, for example in the forms of the churches. So, the linguistic lets to see farther than the appearances, the linguistic is related to the social context, in consequence, the one explains about the culture and about the human mind very much
I have learnt this semester mainly the different schools, the linguistic history. The tongue and speech difference, and their elements. In general, this semester linguistic has been an introduction subject that gives the main concepts.

Thinking my future.

Something I like think about my future, because don’t cost anything to dream! When I think about my future, my realist thoughts are that I’m looking foward to finishing my career without to fail any course, because I like to leave soon of the university.
I’m thinking of applying for a scholarship abroad, I would study in France or Spain, if I can’t I believe that I’m looking foward to studying in Chili some related with documentaries, patrimony or genre, because I would to work at the culture ministry or some a museum or institution related with the art, and specially with the quick change art like some theatre company. I hope can to do many things when I will older. Also, I’m thinking to have a Café like a little and quiet pub.
I hope to have economic stability but not only for me, but also I could to give a good pass to my parents, like to cost them travels or little pleasures because they are old now, then when they will pension off I like that enjoy their lifes.

My career

Anthropology is a very little known career in Chili, because it is relatively a new career at the universities and there are little anthropologist, archeologist and physical anthropologist in the work market.
I like this career because is an holistic discipline, it covers many subjects about the society, the history, the economic, the man's evolution, the linguistic, the genetic development and mainly about the culture. I think that this career permits to work in many different areas, but for that I think too that sometimes is difficult to cover one area in special, because all is related.
I like anthropology also because permits to create projects about indigenous communities to demand their rights, and integrate their knowledges to the urban societies. I think that is important to generate a feedback between the different cultures, and is important to know the history of our evolution for to understand our specie and to see that we are only one animal more in the planet, one animal with some special feature but the great majority of our human history has been a figth with tne nature like the figth of other animals. So, we are an special animal, but an animal more in this planet, an animal that has been making too much damage to the nature and himself.

The best in my area

I admire Claude Levi Strauss very much. He is a French anthropology, and he has done important works about anthropological problems, specialy about the relationship problem related with the incest taboo in primitives societies, and mythological problems. His theoretical work is based on the structuralism school, this theory studies meanly the relations that exist in a sistem and doesn`t study the aspect individualy.
His work also gives atention to linguistics, because to analize the relationship problem is necesary to see the terms that the persons designate to families ties, terms as for example: mother, uncle, father and son.
I admire Levi Strauss because his linguistic theory also is applied to arts problems, he has an analysis aesthetic very interesting about Las Meninas of Velasquez.
His studies has inspired to later researchers in the world as Saussure, Michael Foucault, Humberto Eco and other people.
Levi Strauss is alive yet, in fact the last year was celebrated his hundredth birthday.

Comment on a photograph you like

I will comment a Alfredo Jaar's photo. This photo is called The Nduwayezu’eyes, this photo is part of an art's instalation called The Ruanda project. Jaar is an architect, but his work is a social criticism about the consumism the capitalism, the United States's hegemony, the war and other things. His criticism is through a visual work in public spaces in the city. So, this photo in particular, shows the boy`s eyes whose parents died in the Ruanda's war. Jaar doesn`t take a photograph of dead people, or blood. No, he only catches eyes that denounce to all the deaths and the international indefference in front of african's problem, because this war was a big genocide of a tribe against the other.
I like this photo because in the instalation, there is on a table too many slides, and in each table's corner there is a magnifying glass, so the spectator waits to find or to see in the slides some cruel image, but the persons find eyes that see them, and ask them. This photo challenges to tipical images about a war, and it shows more far, shows the melancholy, the impotence, the silence of an orphan child that didn`t say nothing to a photographer, only saw him.
